The Alliance of Concerned Men's Executive Director Tyrone Parker Honored as Father of the Year by the 100 Black Fathers
 
WHO: The 100 Fathers Inc. “Ordinary Men Doing Extraordinary Things,”of the District, Maryland , and Virginia (DMV), hosted their Annual Fathers Day Event: Fathers, Families and Fun Day for 2010 at University of Maryland ’s Coles Field House during the Professional Indoor Football Game of the Maryland Maniacs!
 
WHAT: Tyrone Parker, Executive Director of the Alliance of Concerned Men was awarded “Father of the Year” during the halftime ceremony which recognized the importance that fathers make to their children, families and their community! 
 
Tyrone Parker symbolizes the role of the Father of the Year as he reaches out to others, helps children and families and brings his programs services and supports to all who need it,” said Frank Malone.
 
The Alliance of Concerned Men, DC Artists and Community Leaders Hoop It Up in a Special Fathers Day Fundraiser
 
WHO:
In honor of Father's Day, on Saturday, June 19th the Alliance of Concerned Men, DC community of artists, educators and noted fathers will show their skills on the court to raise funds for a 13-year-old community festival. The Got Hoops Celebrity Father's Day Basketball Fundraiser is for all ages and will feature area leaders and artists competing in a regulation game at Turkey Thicket Recreation Center. All proceeds from the event support The 2010 National Black Luv Festival. The event begins at 1:00p.m.
 
WHAT: This event spotlights the importance of fathers and father figures within the District and their role in both their children's lives and in the community," says NBLF founder and new father Kymone Freeman. The event is supported by Ward 5 Councilmember Harry Thomas Jr. and DC. Department of Recreation and Parks.
 
The halftime show will feature a performance by hip hop group Godsilla, DJ Munch and an all ages Beat Ya Feet Contest judged by DC’s own Beat Ya Feet Kings. All ages are welcome to compete in the Beat Ya Feet Contest. Admission for the Got Hoops is $10.00 for adults, $5.00 for teens and free for 12 and under.  Tickets are available for online at www.blackluvfest.com. Tickets will not be sold at the center on the day of the event.  The event is presented by The General Store Inc. and Social Art and Culture. It is co-sponsored by the BOSS Inc. (The Better Fathers Project) with a grant by the DC Fathers Initiative.
